• I-94 Westside

Last Saturday (6 June), I re-attempted 24 May’s ride on a morning with more pleasant weather. I completed it this time and didn’t bother to re-photograph the Roosevelt Avenue bridge, which makes Tarnów Street the first bridge documented on this ride. I believe the street is named for the Polish city, since it’s next to Chopin Street which is most likely named for the Polish composer. Detroit has a long history of Polish immigration, and there’s even a West Side Detroit Polish American Historical Society.

  • Southfield Freeway + Bagley Pedestrian Bridge

Last Saturday (30 May), I picked up my friend Nixill’s Kroger order for him, then we took a car trip down the Southfield Freeway to document the pedbridges there. Nix wants to build his aerial photography portfolio, and we both saw a Pedbridge Project trip as a good way to do that.

  • Lodge Freeway and Holden Street

This morning, I had to go to Henry Ford Hospital to have blood work done, a Post Office to drop off a couple packages, and Whole Foods Market to blow like $70 in gift cards on food and nice body care supplies I wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford. I was finished at the hospital around 8:40 and had a few minutes to kill before the Post Office on Milwaukee opened at 9:00, so I was able to detour a bit, pass a townhouse complex named for the real McCoy, and cross a pedbridge in an area that’s quite secluded considering its proximity to New Center, Midtown, and Henry Ford Hospital.

  • I-94 and Roosevelt

I was going to ride from home to Trenton Street and back, to hit the Roosevelt, Tarnow, Lumley, and Trenton bridges across I-94. I gave up at McGraw/Livernois, however, because I was really hot and riding into a headwind. I’m not used to riding in 28°C temperatures.
